Rolling Out The Welcome Mat

Hi!  If you couldn't tell, my name is Kate.  I am not new to blogging, however it has been awhile since I've committed to putting my thoughts into words.  I thought I would start with my back story.

I am 28 years old, and will be turning 29 in June.  I am fast approaching my 30's, which scares me to death.  And I've decided that I don't want to enter my 30's being overweight.  I've been overweight all of my life.  I have tried dieting in the past, but it has never stuck, until now.  My current diet started on January 8th of this year, and so far with the exception of a few days, I've maintained eating well.  I started at a weight of 213 pounds, and as of my weigh in yesterday, I'm down to 200.2.  So close to onederland!

The catalyst to starting my diet now was that I had heard about the Body by Vi shakes.  I tried them for a little while and overall just counted calories, but the shakes did not really work for me.  Drinking them gave me a horrible stomach ache and they were a little more expensive than just eating healthy, so about a month ago I decided to just start eating healthy instead.  I started to use SparkPeople.com for a calorie counter, and I am ever grateful someone had told me to check them out!  I love that they offer free challenges to its members and I am currently doing a Spring into Shape Bootcamp challenge and also a spring challenge in one of my groups.  SparkPeople has definitely been a huge leap in the diet, being able to keep track of my intake and my exercise in one place with other people who are on the same journey as I am is amazing.

My biggest goal in this is to just be healthier overall.  I've spent so much timing being obese and I don't want to be that way any more.  I want to accomplish some pretty hefty goals, and the wight loss is just one of them!  I also have my own horse that I plan to show on the AQHA circuit, and I want to be able to show her to her ability.  She is one of the most talented horses I've owned, and I don't want to be the one to hold her back.  I think that's the biggest difference in this time around, having something good enough to push me along and make me be a better person!

I plan on blogging about my trials and tribulations, and hopefully post about some of my goals, my 2013 bucket list, and maybe some of the healthy recipes I find along the way!  I want to be 100% honest about my journey, good or bad.

Hope to see you soon!
